What is the TOEFL test?

- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a test dedicated to the English language for non-native speakers of English. The test measures the ability to understand and use the language as it is spoken, written and heard in the academic environment.

- The TOEFL test is the most well known test of English in the world being taken over 20 million times a year since 1964. The TOEFL scores are accepted in over 6000 universities, colleges and agencies in over 110 countries. This offers you the possibility to study abroad in The United Kingdom as well as other European countries or in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan or Korea.

- The TOEFL test has been created by specialists of the ETS (Educational Testing Service), from the Princeton University in New Jersey, in order to offer those interested in studying abroad in a country where the teaching language is English.

How does the TOEFL test take place?

- In 2005, the ETS has introduces a new, last generation version of the test, the internet-based testing service, delivered in a secure manner in all testing centers all over the world, including in Oradea.

- The TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) is testing all four abilities necessary for an effective communication: reading, listening, writing and speaking comprehension.

- If until now public institutions and agencies asked employees about their scores in the Test of Spoken English, by means of its new format TOEFL iBT has also this test included, thus making it easy for both candidates and solicitors.

- Speaking comprehension test consists of 6 major requirements and the candidates have headphones and microphones when they answer the questions.

- The answer are digitally recorded and transmitted to the Online Evaluation Database of the ETS, where they are graded by human evaluators. They are carefully monitored and the results are more then secure.

Why taking a TOEFL test?

- The scores are accepted worldwide.

- It’s a multilevel certification process meaning that for each score one receives a certificate.

- By means of its new format, TOEFL iBT assesses accurately all four abilities needed for effective communication: reading, writing, listening and speaking comprehension.

- It makes sure that all interested parties obtain the scores of the test free of charge.

- The examination centers are equipped with state of the art technologies offering an ideal environment for taking a test.
